The Air Force’s best and most important assets are its PEOPLE. At 452FM one of our most important mission is to take care of our people with their military finance needs. We take care of our people who fly C-17s, Boom Operators refueling mid-air in a KC-135, Civil Engineers maintaining the installation, and everyone so they are able to focus on their task on hand without having to worry about their finances.

Innovating through Customer Experience (CX) & User-Centered Design (UCD).

Better understanding and empathizing with our customers, not just providing service to meet our own needs (checklists, audits, stats, etc) enabled us to gain a deeper insights, improve and develop new ways of providing more effective and efficient service. We are changing our processes, the way we engage our customers, and develop and use new or commercially available tools that meets both our operational and our customer’s needs.

Although new tools have been developed over the years Finance is still a process driven operation. We are working on new ways to automate several of our processes using new technologies like Robotic Process Automation (RPA) or Bots to significantly cut down on manual processes enabling our members to get paid faster and in a timely manner. This allows our team to focus on more analytical and high level tasks.

452FM, as the 452d AMW commander’s and its members’ trusted financial advisor, and as stewards of taxpayer dollars has a solemn duty to ensure that funding is allocated to the proper resources to meet and exceed the Wing’s global mobility missions. To effectively accomplish our goals it is imperative that we improve and accelerate planning, decision-making, and prioritization in a manner driven by accurate and decision-ready data.

We are adopting new techniques and developing tools that identify issues and its root causes, contributing factors, forecast planned events, and predictive models to help decision-makers be able to make data-driven informed decisions. We are currently developing a tool that allows us to make structured planning, prioritize requirements with a logical and transparent framework, and create predictive, what-if scenarios, and courses of actions using value and risk-based scoring aligned to the Wing’s Strategic Plan and Commander’s priorities.

As a member of the 452 Data Council, the Wing’s data governing body, we are collaborating with different Wing Functionals in developing a comprehensive data strategy and governance enabling shared and readily available actionable data.

The world is changing and moving faster than ever before. Our mission has to adopt to a fast moving and changing environment. We can no longer afford to operate how we have operated and still effectively manage and execute our fiscal responsibilities. What worked yesterday will not work tomorrow. We have to be fast and agile. In order to get there, change requires a shift in our culture and mindset. At 452FM, we are redefining our culture. A new culture defined as collaborative, analytical, innovative, and agile.
